This course is an interdisciplinary course combining Computer Science
and Management Mathematics. It is designed to meet the needs of
computing and information technology industries for graduates who
possess both a strong academic background and highly developed
practical managerial and communication skills. It equips students to
become technically competent in the analysis, development and
implementation of any automated information systems and together
with the suitable management mathematics background; students are
trained and prepared to have good reasoning and analytical abilities. It
also equips students with mathematical skills needed to solve
theoretical and applied problems in business and industries. Graduates
will be provided with knowledge in the areas of object-oriented analysis
and design, artificial intelligence, internet programming, business data
communications, operating systems, database systems, cryptography,
financial mathematics, quality control, applied statistics and operations
research. |

With the opportunity for students to go for six months industrial
training, students will be exposed to real-life industrial problems,
which will be both challenging and rewarding in terms of the invaluable
experience that they will gain. Students are trained to improve their
problem solving skills so that they would be able to blend into the
workforce easily. |

The Advanced Diploma in Science (Computer Science and
Management Mathematics) is recognised as suitable for progression to
a Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) or Liverpool John Moores University
(LJMU), UK degree with prior credit. Advanced Diploma graduates of
this programme can obtain the BSc (Hons) Information Technology or
BSc (Hons) Information Technology (Computer Systems & Networks or
Software Engineering) Degree from SHU or BSc (Hons) Computing and
Information Systems Degree from LJMU by completing the final
semester of the programme at the respective university. |
