Computer Science and Computer Mathematics
 
 
In Computer Science, students learn the principles and skills for information system design and development, including programming, database design, web page design and development, and other related subjects. Students will learn programming languages such as C, XHTML, Java and VB.Net. The mathematics units are specially planned to be relevant to computer science.
 
This diploma course is designed to provide students with a framework for computing knowledge so that graduates may further their studies in a computer science or information technology (IT) discipline without difficulty. It also provides them with a set of defined competencies that will ensure that they are work ready for semi-professional positions in the IT or scientific industries.
    Academic and Professional Progression

The standard of the Diploma in Science (Computer Science and Computer Mathematics) is equivalent to the 1st year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
a)
Advanced Diploma in Science cum BS Degree (Junior & Senior Years) (Computer Science and Computer Mathematics) at TAR College.
b)
Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced standing/credit transfer.
   
    Career Prospects
 
Diploma graduates may find employment at a semi-professional level, such as programmers, database administrators, network administrators and technical officers. Graduates are also suitable for technical roles in computer or science-based organisations.
 
    Minimum Entry Requirements
   
I
Diploma in Science (Computer Science and Computer Mathematics)
  Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:-
  (i) 5 credits which must include Additional Mathematics
  (ii) Pass in English Language
   
 
Applicants who only have a pass in SPM Bahasa Malaysia will be required to obtain a credit in SPM Bahasa Malaysia or equivalent before the award of Diploma.
   
 
A pass in the English Language (1119 Level) course conducted by the Extra-Mural Studies Department (EMSD) is recognised as satisfying the English Language requirement for admission to the Diploma course.
