Information Systems Engineering
 
This 6-semester full-time course provides students with a basic understanding of computing techniques and aims to develop the computing and information technology-based knowledge and skills required in modern industrial, commercial and service organisations. It will equip students with essential knowledge of the underlying principles of modern computing technology and enable students to appreciate how modern computers are applied to a range of real world problems. Students will learn C, Java, Assembly Language, Macromedia Flash, XHTML, CSS, Microsoft Expression Web and Java Script.
 
Upon completion, graduates will have acquired knowledge and developed skills in the areas of computer programming, systems analysis, computer applications and object-oriented software development, as well as in generic business subjects.
 
   Academic and Professional Progression

The standard of the Diploma in Science (Information Systems Engineering) is equivalent to the 1st year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
a) Advanced Diploma in Science cum BS Degree (Junior & Senior Years) (Information Systems Engineering) at TAR College
b) Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced standing / credit transfer
   
   Career Prospects
 
Diploma graduates may seek employment in different sectors of the rapidly expanding information technology sector, including software development, database design, system support and computer sales. They may be employed as programmers, end-user support staff, assistant systems analysts, EDP executives, assistant database administrators and IT executives.
 
    Minimum Entry Requirements
   
I Diploma in Science (Information Systems Engineering)
 
  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:-
        (i) 5 credits which must include Mathematics
        (ii) Pass in English Language
         
      OR
         
     
  • Certificate in Computer Studies from TAR College.
       
     
    Applicants who only have a pass in SPM Bahasa Malaysia will be required to obtain a credit in SPM Bahasa Malaysia or equivalent before the award of Diploma.
       
     
    A pass in the English Language (1119 Level) course conducted by the Extra-Mural Studies Department (EMSD) is recognised as satisfying the English Language requirement for admission to the Diploma course.
