Business Information Systems
 
The Business Information Systems course is an applied computer science course which majors in computer science with business information systems. It aims to produce Diploma graduates with fundamental knowledge in information technology and its business related applications.
 
It covers the theoretical and practical aspects of developing information systems, management, costing, accounting, electronic commerce, behavioral science and some mathematics. The course is supported by case studies and computer laboratory assignments.
 
Students will acquire practical skills in the C Language, XHTML, JavaScript, VB.Net, Microsoft Expression Web, Microsoft Access, accounting packages and be guided through the process of developing an information system.
    Academic and Professional Progression

The standard of the Diploma in Science (Business Information Systems) is equivalent to the 1st year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
a)
Advanced Diploma in Science cum BS Degree (Junior & Senior Years) (Business Information Systems) at TAR College.
b)
Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced standing/credit transfer.
   
    Career Prospects
 
Diploma graduates may find employment in a wide spread of industries, such as banking and finance, manufacturing, consultancy, insurance, software development and technical support. Job positions in which graduates may be employed include programmers, end-user support staff, assistant system analysts, junior analysts, assistant webmasters etc.
 
    Minimum Entry Requirements
   
I Diploma in Science (Business Information Systems)
 
  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:-
        (i) 5 credits which must include Mathematics
        (ii) Pass in English Language
         
      OR
       
     
  • Certificate in Computer Studies from TAR College
       
     
    Applicants who only have a pass in SPM Bahasa Malaysia will be required to obtain a credit in SPM Bahasa Malaysia or equivalent before the award of Diploma.
       
     
    A pass in the English Language (1119 Level) course conducted by the Extra-Mural Studies Department (EMSD) is recognised as satisfying the English Language requirement for admission to the Diploma course.
