Microelectronics with Automatic Control

The Microelectronics with Automatic Control course covers a wide range of topics in computer, electronic, input/output (I/O) programming, embedded systems, communications and networking for automation and control industries. The course aims to produce graduates with strong analytical and logical thinking skills as well as good hands-on skills.

The Microelectronics with Automatic Control course offered in the Microelectronics and Physics Division is well equipped with a wide range of software, hardware and networking facilities to enhance students’ learning.

The Diploma in Science course covers computer hardware and peripherals, microprocessor systems and firmware
programming, PC I/O programming and PLC programming for control and automation, computer networking, data communications and telecommunications. Students are prepared with the fundamental knowledge and skills needed for the Cisco networking professional examination through Cisco’s Netacad (CCNA) programme.

   Academic and Professional Progression

The standard of the Diploma in Science (Microelectronics with Automatic Control) is equivalent to the 1st year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
a)
Advanced Diploma in Science cum BS Degree (Junior & Senior Years) (Microelectronics with Automatic Control) at TAR College.
b)
Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced standing / credit transfer.

   Career Prospects

The Diploma in Science course prepares graduates for employment in most areas of electronic industries, particularly in the usage of computers in data acquisition and control. Graduates could easily seek jobs as electronic, computer, network, instrumentation, control and automation technicians, assistant engineers or technical support staff.
