The Sport and Exercise Science
programme is designed to cover the application of scientific principles
on three branches of science - biomechanics, physiology and interdisciplinary
approaches. The sports science area largely offers expert scientific
backup for top sport training and performance, while exercise science
has a central role in physical programmes aimed at improving general
health. The qualified sport and exercise scientist can expect to
have a broad technical and physiological knowledge, and stands to
benefit from current developments within the field offering a professional
status that is recognised worldwide. |

The Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science covers
a broad, multidisciplinary study of sport and exercise science.
Students will be introduced the sports concepts and practices, principles
of coaching, health and wellness, and various games in sports. Students
will develop knowledge and understanding of how scientific methods
can be used to examine sport and exercise activities in subjects
such as anatomy and physiology, sport psychology, sport biomechanics
and motor learning and development. Other topics include sport management,
maintenance of sport facilities, sport injuries, legal and ethical
issues in sports, and sport nutrition. |

The standard of the Diploma
in Sport and Exercise Science is equivalent to the 1st year
of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their
studies to: |

Advanced Diploma in Sport
and Exercise Science at TAR College. |
| b) |
Relevant Bachelor Degree
courses on advanced standing / credit transfer. |

| The market for sports graduates
continues to grow. Diploma graduates may find employment within
the fields of health promotion, health related fitness, fitness
assessment and general nutrition in the sports and recreation industry.
They can work as assistant fitness trainers, assistant instructors,
sport administrators, sports maintenance personnel and junior sales
executives. |

| Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:- |

5 credits which must include Mathematics |
| (ii) |
Pass in English Language and a science subject |
| |
Applicants who only have a
pass in SPM Bahasa Malaysia will be required to obtain a credit
in SPM Bahasa Malaysia or equivalent before the award of Diploma. |

A pass in the English Language
(1119 Level) course conducted by the Extra-Mural Studies Department
(EMSD) is recognised as satisfying the English Language requirement
for admission to the Diploma course. |
