Computer Science and Statistics

This is a double major course where equal weightage is placed between Computer Science and Statistics.

In Computer Science, students learn the principles and skills for information systems design and development, including programming, database design and development, web page design and development, and other related subjects. Students will learn programming languages such as C, XHTML, Java and VB.Net.

Students are also trained in mathematical and statistical methods, which complements their knowledge and skills in computer science. The mathematics and statistics training prepares students for further work and research involving statistics
    Academic and Professional Progression

The standard of the Diploma in Science (Computer Science and Statistics) is equivalent to the 1st year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
a)
Advanced Diploma in Science cum BS Degree (Junior & Senior Years) (Computer Science and Statistics) at TAR College.
b)
Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced standing/credit transfer.

    Career Prospects

Diploma graduates may find employment in a wide area of industries such as software houses, computer vendors, banking and finance, insurance and market research companies.
