This Advanced Diploma in Technology (Building) course aims to produce graduates who will, with appropriate experience, eventually become Chartered/Professional Builders. The curriculum is purposefully designed to embrace multi-function skills in the building construction process and thus enhances the employability of graduates. There is emphasis on two major areas, namely the Building Management and Building Technology, as well as provisions for a solid grounding in Quantity Surveying, Building Economics and Finance. Students will be adequately equipped with the technical skills and knowledge to perform the following functions:

Building Management, Construction Management, Property Management;
(b)
Project Management, Site Management;
(c)
Quantity Surveying, Cost & Production Control;
(d)
Contract Administration;
(e)
Building Consultancy
   
   Academic and Professional Progression
 
The Advanced Diploma in Technology (Building) is equivalent to a Bachelor Degree.
a)
Advanced Diploma graduates have been accepted into postgraduate studies in many universities.
b)
The Advanced Diploma in Technology (Building) is recognised as suitable for progression to a Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) or Liverpool John Moores University (JMU), UK degree with prior credit. Advanced Diploma graduates of this programme can obtain the BSc (Hons) Building Construction Management Degree from SHU or BSc (Hons) Building Contract Management Degree and BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying Studies from JMU by completing the final semester of the programme at the respective university.

   Career Prospects

Advanced Diploma graduates are well-equipped with technical skill and knowledge to be employed in a wide variety of positions leading to construction managers, site managers, project managers, property managers, quantity surveyors, contract administrators and building consultants.

   Minimum Entry Requirements

Diploma in Technology (Building) / Diploma in Architectural Studies* from TAR College or other equivalent qualifications.

Practical Training in Industry during Year 1 Semester 2 vacation for approximately 12 weeks.
