Building

This Diploma course aims to produce graduates who have a sound foundation in the field of building construction, building services, construction management, building materials as well as to provide basic appreciation of building law, contracts and measurement. Students would also have acquired sufficient knowledge in management to be engaged in a supervisory position. Students from this course are also given a solid knowledge base in building to pursue higher qualifications in the built environment.
 
   Academic and Professional Progression
   
The standard of the Diploma in Technology (Building) is equivalent to the 1st year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
a)
Advanced Diploma in Technology (Building) at TAR College.
b)
Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced standing / credit transfer.

   Career Prospects

Diploma graduates may be employed in a wide variety of positions leading to assistant site managers, assistant project managers, contract administrators or facilities managers.

   Minimum Entry Requirements

I Admission to Semester 1
 
  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:-
        (i) 5 credit which must include Mathematics
        (ii) Pass in English Language
       
      OR
       
     
  • Certificate in Technology (Building) from TAR College.
       
    II Admission on advanced standing to Semester 4
     
    Students with the following qualifications will be accorded credit transfer/advanced standing to enable them to complete the Diploma in 1 year.

    Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM)/A Levels with 2 Principal passes in mathematics/science/technical subjects.

    Pengajian Am/Ekonomi/Perakaunan/Computing may be considered as a relevant Principal pass.

    Plus

    Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:-
      (i) 3 credits which must include Mathematics
      (ii) Pass in English Language
       
     
    A principal or subsidiary pass at STPM level is acceptable in lieu of a credit for the corresponding SPM subject.

    Applicants who only have a pass in SPM Bahasa Malaysia will be required to obtain a credit in SPM Bahasa Malaysia or equivalent before the award of Diploma.

    A pass in the English Language (1119 Level) course conducted by the Extra-Mural Studies Department (EMSD) is recognised as satisfying the English Language requirement for admission to the Diploma course
