Mechatronics

This course aims to provide students with the necessary technical and scientific knowledge and skills in Mechatronics for employment as technicians and engineering assistants in the mechatronics sub-sector of the manufacturing industry where increasing automation requires the mechanical engineering knowledge related to the operations of the system and the electronics engineering knowledge to operate and maintain the electronic systems to control those operations. The strong foundation in engineering also enable students to pursue higher educational qualifications in mechatronic engineering.

   Academic and Professional Progression

The standard of the Diploma in Technology (Mechatronics) is equivalent to the 1st year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
a)
Advanced Diploma in Technology (Mechatronics) at TAR College.
b)
Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced standing / credit transfer.

   Professional Accreditation / Exemption

Please refer to the 'Professional Accreditation / Exemption'.

   Career Prospects

Mechatronics graduates have excellent career prospects with manufacturing and automation organisations either in systems design or as operations and maintenance engineers. Their dual specialisation will enable them to function effectively in both the operating aspects or control aspects of the automated systems in use in so many state of art and modern manufacturing organisations. They play an essential role in maintaining the high quality as well as the availability of the manufacturing systems.
