Quantity Surveying

This Diploma course strives to produce graduates to satisfy the manpower requirement in the quantity surveying discipline at the subprofessional level.

Students will be equipped with sound knowledge in the core aspects such as quantity surveying practices and procedures, measurement of building & civil works, building construction, building services, estimating & tendering, construction economics, legal studies and contracts.

Graduates from this course are adequately grounded in the quantity surveying knowledge to enable them to pursue further studies in the Built Environment.
 
   Academic and Professional Progression
   
The standard of the Diploma in Technology (Quantity Surveying) is equivalent to the 1st year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
a)
Advanced Diploma in Technology (Quantity Surveying) at TAR College.
b)
Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced standing / credit transfer.

   Career Prospects

Diploma graduates may find employment in quantity surveying practices, construction firms, development firms as well as government or quasi-government agencies. Job positions such as junior or assistant quantity surveyors are opened for graduates.

   Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:-
      (i) 5 credit which must include Mathematics
      (ii) Pass in English Language
     
      OR
       
  • Certificate in Technology (Quantity Surveying) from TAR College
       
     
    Applicants who only have a pass in SPM Bahasa Malaysia will be required to obtain a credit in SPM Bahasa Malaysia or equivalent before the award of Diploma.
       
     
    A pass in the English Language (1119 Level) course conducted by the Extra-Mural Studies Department (EMSD) is recognised as satisfying the English Language requirement for admission to the Diploma course.
