| Professional Accreditation / Exemption Diploma graduates are exempted from the Engineering Council, Certificate Examination, United Kingdom or the Board of Engineers Malaysia / Institution of Engineers Malaysia (BEM/IEM) Part I Examination. Advanced Diploma students in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Materials & Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering and Mechatronics will be simultaneously prepared to sit for the Engineering Council, Graduate Diploma Examination, United Kingdom or the BEM / IEM Part II Examination. The scope and standard of the BEM/IEM examinations are compatible with that of the Engineering Council examinations.
The Engineering Council is the officially recognised body in United Kingdom established to maintain standards for the qualification of Chartered or Professional Engineers. The Council conducts its own examinations in United Kingdom and overseas. The scope and standard of the Certificate Examination is not less than that of an examination set at a point of about eighteen months through a three-year full-time university degree course in engineering in United Kingdom. The minimum pass standard of the Graduate Diploma Examination is not less than that of a Bachelor of Engineering Honours degree awarded by a British university. This Graduate Examination Qualification (Certificate and Graduate Diploma) of the Engineering Council is recognised in Malaysia, United Kingdom and many parts of the world.
The Institution of Engineers Malaysia was formed by engineering professionals to advance knowledge and application of engineering. It is a non-governmental organisation which was set up to compliment the role of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) by serving as an advisory role in accreditation of the engineering qualifications and to play a major role in development of the engineering education in Malaysia.
The Board of Engineers Malaysia was set up under the Registration of Engineers Act 1967 (Act 138) to regulate the practice of engineering in Malaysia which includes maintaining engineer registration.
Advanced Diploma graduates are fully exempted from the Education Framework Levels 1 to 3 of the Chartered Institute of Building.

The Board of Quantity Surveyors, Malaysia is a body set up to accreditate qualifications in the Quantity Surveying discipline. A qualification accreditated by BQSM enables the holder to practise as a quantity surveyor or in related fields. Membership of the ISM is a essential professional qualification for practising Quantity Surveyors. |
