The tourism industry is one of Malaysia's fastest developing industries. As Malaysia's economy develops to become a centre for Asian tourists, there will be a greater emphasis and commitment to expand and improve tourism products and services. This calls for trained management staff with wellrounded international and domestic views of tourism planning and public relation skills that will enable them to give efficient and quality service in the hospitality, travel and tourism industry. Apart from this, the tourism industry is showing a growing sense of professional identity and needs graduates who are highly skilled and knowledgeable. In response to this rapidly developing industry, Tunku Abdul Rahman College offers a tourism management course, which concentrates on the vocational and theoretical aspects of the tourism trade. The management aspects of this course are in the management of visitor attractions, heritage park and the cultural aspects of world. Therefore, the course will train future managers to be resourceful, creative, technically knowledgeable, competent and possess business acumen to play a proactive role in the modern dynamics of the tourism industry.
 
    Academic and Professional Progression
 
The Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management (Tourism) is equivalent to a Bachelor Degree.
 
The Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management (Tourism) is recognised as suitable for progression to a Liverpool John Moores University (JMU), UK degree with prior credit. Advanced Diploma graduates of this programme can obtain the BA (Hons) in Hospitality, Leisure & Tourism Degree from JMU by completing the final semester (three months) of the programme at the university.
