Diploma in Mass Communication (Advertising)
 
Students acquire knowledge and practical skills in mass communication and advertising, to become advertising personnel who can conceptualize and visualize advertisements.
 
Graduates are competent to serve as copywriters, media-planners, accounts executives, advertising and marketing personnel.
 
They also acquire a better understanding of Malaysian multi-cultural society, enhance trilingual skills, and computer savviness.
 
 
Academic and Professional Progression
 
The standard of the Diploma in Mass Communication (Advertising) is equivalent to the 1st or even 2nd year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
 
a)
Advanced Diploma in Mass Communication (Advertising) at TAR College.
b)
Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced standing / credit transfer.
 
   Career Prospects
 
Employed as advertising and promotions executives, copywriters, accounts executives, production assistants for print and/or electronic media, media planners, and marketing communicators.
 
     Minimum Entry Requirements
   
  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:-
  •   (i)  5 credit passes in any arts/science subjects
      (ii) Pass in Bahasa Melayu^ and English Language
     
        OR
     
  • Certificate in Mass Communication (Advertising) from TAR College.
  •    
    ^ Students who do not have a credit pass in SPM Bahasa Melayu must complete and pass AEMS1022 Bahasa Melayu
     
    A pass in the General English course conducted by the Extra-Mural Studies Department (EMSD) is recognised as satisfying the English Language requirement for admission to the Diploma course.
