Diploma in Mass Communication (Broadcast Communication)
 
The Diploma in Mass Communication (Broadcast Communication) course entails knowledge and skills for the traditional broadcast and new electronic media; theories and practical skills required in the media industry; and , Malaysian media laws, policies and cultural practices. This enhancing their current understanding and future applications of know how in both the local and global media scene.
 
 
    Academic and Professional Progression
 
The standard of the Diploma in Mass Communication (Broadcast Communication) is equivalent to the 1st or even 2nd year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
a) Advanced Diploma in Mass Communication (Broadcast Communication) at TAR College.
b)
Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced standing / credit transfer.
 
    Career Prospects
 
Diploma graduates will address the need for support communication staff at sub-professional level in radio and television stations, information technology, on-line news service, and electronic-commerce industry.
 
    Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:-
  •   (i)  5 credit passes in any arts / science subjects
      (ii) Pass in Bahasa Melayu^ and English Language
     
        OR
     
  • Certificate in Broadcast Communication from TAR College
  •  
    ^ Students who do not have a credit pass in SPM Bahasa Melayu must complete and pass AEMS1022 Bahasa Melayu
     
    A pass in the General English course conducted by the Extra-Mural Studies Department (EMSD) is recognised as satisfying the English Language requirement for admission to the Diploma course.
