| Diploma in Social Science (Counselling) |

The Diploma in Social Science (Counselling) course aims to educate,
train and develop students who intend to pursue careers in
counselling-related work. It develops an appreciation and
understanding of this area of work through a range of subjects
covering different aspects of counselling, psychology, and basic
management. Both theory and practical experience are incorporated
in this course.
This course also familiarises students with various aspects of the
Malaysian environment that are relevant to their work. |

The standard of the Diploma in Social Science (Counselling) is
equivalent to the 1st or even 2nd year of a relevant Bachelor Degree.
Graduates can further their studies to: |
| a) |
Advanced Diploma in Social
Science (Psychology) at TAR College. |
| b) |
Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku
Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced
standing / credit transfer. |

Diploma graduates may find employment in work related to psychology,
social work, personnel / human resource management, or customer
services. They may also pursue further education in the area of
counselling or psychology. |

| Sijil
Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:- |

5 credits in any arts / science subjects |
| (ii) |
Pass in English Language |
| |
| Applicants who only have a pass in SPM Bahasa Malaysia will
be required to obtain a credit in SPM Bahasa Malaysia or
equivalent before the award of Diploma. |
| |
A pass in the English Language (1119 Level) course conducted
by the Extra-Mural Studies Department (EMSD) is recognised
as satisfying the SPM English Language requirement for
admission to the Diploma course. |
