| Diploma in Fashion Design |

The Diploma in Fashion Design course is designed to develop
students’ design and technical skills to provide a basis for students’
progression into higher education or employment in the fashion
industry. This course encourages students to explore their creativity
and ideas through a range of projects including women’s wear,
men’s wear, children’s wear and accessories. Students will learn
usage of technologies including new and sophisticated materials and
creative studio design practices. Students will develop original,
creative garment designs from concept to fruition, including fashion
drawing, pattern-making, garment construction, and product
merchandising. |

The standard of the Diploma in Fashion Design is equivalent to the
1st or even 2nd year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can
further their studies to: |
| a) |
Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design at TAR College. |
| b) |
Relevant Bachelor Degree courses on advanced standing / credit
transfer. |

Diploma graduates may seek employment as Designer and Assistant
Designer, Fashion Stylist, Production, Patternmaker, Pattern Grader,
Fabrications and Trim Buyer, Merchandiser, Fashion Illustrator, and
Textile Artist, Fashion Coordinator, Retail Buyer, Theatrical Costume
Maker and Designer. |

| Minimum Entry
Requirements |

| Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:- |
| |
(i) 5 credits in any arts / science subjects |
| |
(ii) Pass in English Language |
| |
| OR |
| |
| Certificate in Fashion Design from TAR College |
| |
| Applicants who only have a pass in SPM Bahasa Malaysia will
be required to obtain a credit in SPM Bahasa Malaysia or
equivalent before the award of Diploma. |
| |
A pass in the English Language (1119 Level) course conducted
by the Extra-Mural Studies Department (EMSD) is recognised
as satisfying the SPM English Language requirement for
admission to the Diploma course. |
