Diploma in Mass Communication (Graphic Design)
 
The Diploma in Mass Communication (Graphic Design) course aims to produce graphic designers who can convey ideas and information through the appropriate use of images and words. It incorporates areas such as advertising, layout and illustration, typography, commercial design and graphics using both traditional creative media and advanced computer technology.
 
Students will be equipped with knowledge of the core functions and specialisation in the field of graphic designing so that they will be competent to serve as graphic designers, art directors and illustrators.
 
 
    Academic and Professional Progression
 
The standard of the Diploma in Mass Communication (Graphic Design) is equivalent to the 1st or even 2nd year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
a) Advanced Diploma in Mass Communication (Graphic Design) at TAR College.
b)
Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced standing / credit transfer.
 
    Career Prospects
 
Diploma graduates may find employment in graphic design, advertising or marketing organisations.
 
   Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:-
    •   (i)  5 credit passes in any arts / science subjects
      (ii) Pass in Bahasa Melayu^ and English Language
     
        OR
     
  • Certificate in Mass Communication (Graphic Design) from TAR College.
    		•
       
    ^ Students who do not have a credit pass in SPM Bahasa Melayu must complete and pass AEMS1022 Bahasa Melayu
     
     A pass in the General English course conducted by the Extra-Mural Studies Department (EMSD) is recognised as satisfying the English Language requirement for admission to the Diploma course.
