Diploma in Mass Communication (Public Relations)
 
Students acquire knowledge and practical skills in mass communication, persuasion, advertising, and events management-presenting this 'package' to various public professionally.
 
Students foster practical skills in formulating media strategies and corporate information package, managing PR campaigns and organising press conferences and exhibitions, to become capable media practitioners, communication facilitators and event managers.
 
Graduates are managerially professional: maintaining mutually beneficial management-employee relations, and assisting corporations adjust positively to changing public opinion, laws and business environment.
 
    Academic and Professional Progression
 
The standard of the Diploma in Mass Communication (Public Relations) is equivalent to the 1st or even 2nd year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
a) Advanced Diploma in Mass Communication (Public Relations) at TAR College.
b)
Relevant Bachelor (Honours) Degree courses at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) or other universities on advanced standing / credit transfer.
   
    Career Prospects
 
Diploma graduates may find employment in public relations departments, advertising agencies, marketing, human resources, events management, consulting firms, hotels and various service industries.
 
    Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:-
  •   (i)  5 credit passes in any arts / science subjects
      (ii) Pass in Bahasa Melayu^ and English Language
     
        OR
     
  • Certificate in Mass Communication (Public Relations) from TAR College.
  •  
    ^ Students who do not have a credit pass in SPM Bahasa Melayu must complete and pass AEMS1022 Bahasa Melayu
     

    A pass in the General English course conducted by the Extra-Mural Studies Department (EMSD) is recognised as satisfying the English Language requirement for admission to the Diploma course.
