Diploma in Hospitality Management (Tourism)
 
The Diploma in Hospitality Management (Tourism) course encompasses the basic skills and knowledge of hospitality management with a strong emphasis on tourism management.
 
The course will produce well-trained personnel for the hospitality industry. Graduates would have developed a mature understanding of their field through lectures, class discussions, case studies, class practicals as well as industrial attachment.
 
The course also develops the multi-lingual skills of students, and their appreciation of the local/regional tourism scenario.
 
    Academic and Professional Progression
 
The standard of the Diploma in Hospitality Management (Tourism) is equivalent to the 1st or even 2nd year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their studies to:
a) Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management (Tourism) at TAR College.
b)
Relevant Bachelor Degree courses on advanced standing / credit transfer.
   
    Career Prospects
 
Diploma graduates may find employment in many areas of work related to the hospitality industry, e.g. work in tour or travel agencies, tourist attractions, resorts, hotels or restaurants. They may work as administrators, planners or executives in the industry.
 
    Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as follows:-
  •   (i)  5 credit passes in any arts/science subjects
      (ii) Pass in Bahasa Melayu^ and English Language
     
        OR
     
  • Certificate in Hospitality Management (Tourism) from TAR College.
  •  
    ^ Students who do not have a credit pass in SPM Bahasa Melayu must complete and pass AEMS1022 Bahasa Melayu
     
    A pass in the General English course conducted by the Extra-Mural Studies Department (EMSD) is recognised as satisfying the English Language requirement for admission to the Diploma course.
