BERITA CAMPUS : KAMPAR DISTRICT FOOTBALL LEAGUE

The Perak Branch Campus took part in the Kampar Football League 2008 that concluded before the Ramadan month started.

Although the team lost did not managed to clinch any placing in the league, they were proud with their performance in the match.  The young students made their presence felt in the league,  losing only one match to the eventual champion, and took a draw in the other 2 matches.  Our young students managed to hold their fort
against much older and experienced players. The team’s captain, student Ng Kin Wah from Diploma in Business Studies (Business Administration) is confident that the team will be in better position to secure a placing after this exposure. The cheerful chap reasoned “Due to the lack of football competition organised, we have no opportunity to enter competitions these two years. If there are more opportunities to enter competitions, we can build up our strength and form.”

The second Malaysia Festival of the Mind kick started on 22 December 2007 at the Dewan Utama of Perak Branch Campus, and was graced by Perak Chief Minister, Dato’ Seri Diraja Mohammad Tajol Rosli bin Tan Sri Mohd Ghazali as Guest of Honor. The event was jointly organised by Malaysia Mental Literacy Movement (MMLM), Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, with the main objective to imprint in the national consciousness the importance of mental literacy. It is hoped that this event will be a stepping stone toward developing more widespred interest and awareness in intelligience and brain power enhancement.

During the two-day festival, Kampar folks had the opportunity to be introduced to the various techniques and tools to improve their brain power, thinking skills, creativity and memory skills. Visitors had free access to talks, demonstrations, exhibitions and competitions held to create awareness about the human mind and its unlimited potential, as well as ways of developing one’s brain power to the fullest. Among the prominent speakers for the public talks were Mr Joey Yap (feng shui), Mr Anant Kasibhatla (memory enhancement) and Ms Frances Penafort (thinking out of the box).

Hungry crowd at the food fair

The Diploma in Hospitality Management (Food Service) year 2 students had an opportune occasion to showcase their culinary flair during a 3 days event which was scintillating to the palate. The event was organised to put to the test what students had learnt in KHHM 3644 Event Management. They were given a first hand opportunity to organise and manage an event, from the planning stage to its execution and conclusion. The event was well publicised, with attractive flyers distributed around the campus. On the actual day, some students were seen to be in the campus as early as 7 am to prepare the food and set up the venue.

This event is organised at a timely occasion during the College Open Day on 14 – 16 December 2007, where visitors had the opportunity to sample the food prepared by our students, and patronise the food demonstration sessions showcased by them.
