We have come a long way and we take pride in the fact that we were the first School to be established in TAR College (now TAR University College) in 1969 and that has served us well. As the Centre for Pre-University Studies under TAR University College, we are indeed privileged to have had the solid backing of the 49 illustrious years of academic excellence of TAR College and its strong tradition of providing quality and affordable education to young Malaysians.
From our humble beginnings as the pioneer School at TAR College, with a cohort of 764 students pursuing the Higher School Certificate, the Centre today, sees the successful fruition of its Cambridge GCE A Level Science & the Cambridge GCE A Level Arts programmes. And leveraging on the success of its A Level programmes, the Centre now offers its very own home-grown Foundation in Science & Foundation in Arts. Our alumni strength is around 30,000 and still is growing strong with many having become and others on the way to becoming very successful in their chosen fields, be it in medicine, pharmacy or engineering, the sciences, business, accountancy, law, politics and the list stretches on. With the addition of the Foundation programmes, the number of success stories will just continue to grow.
We have always believed in the importance of having a 'quality pre-university' education as a requisite to gaining entry into world class universities. A student needs a strong foundation to prepare him well for the challenges of a university education. The Cambridge A Level is possibly the strongest preparation for tertiary studies.
The Foundation programmes is accepted and recognised as entry qualifications of undergraduate programmes offered by TAR University College in the Faculty of Accountancy, Finance & Business; Faculty of Applied Sciences & Computing; Faculty of Engineering & the Built Environment & the Faculty of Social Science, Arts & Humanities.
Here at TAR University College, while we insist on academic rigour, we also seek to enrich and challenge our students to develop their full potential. The Cambridge A Level & the Foundation programmes offered at TAR University College certainly epitomises the ‘quality pre-university’ education that is needed to open tertiary doors.
Given the right learning & teaching environment, a comprehensive range of physical support, dedicated & experienced teaching faculty and generous pastoral care & support, our students are holistically groomed for challenges beyond the Cambridge A Levels & the Foundation Studies.
