Background
 
Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC) is a renowned institution with more than 40 years of academic excellence and experience in providing quality education.
 
The College was established on 24 February 1969 and was named after the late YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Father of Malaysian Independence.
 
The College started with the commencement of classes in the School of Pre-University Studies in 1969 and followed by the School of Business Studies in 1971. In 1972, School of Technology and School of Arts & Science were established. The School of Social Science & Humanities was established in 1999.
 
Through the five Schools, the College offers more than 100 programmes covering a wide range of disciplines such as  accountancy,  finance, management,  business, science,  engineering,
 
 
 
 
built environment, information technology, mass communication, social science, creative arts and hospitality management.
 
TAR College has six campuses nationwide that cater to the educational needs of students who have completed secondary school education. Its campuses are Kuala Lumpur Main Campus in Setapak,  Penang Branch Campus in Tanjong Bungah, Perak Branch Campus in Kampar, Johor Branch Campus in Segamat, Pahang Branch Campus in Karak and Sabah Branch Campus in Penampang. From an initial student enrolment of 764, the College currently has about 24,000 students studying in its six campuses.
 
The College is one of the most popular institutions of higher learning in Malaysia with more than 150,000 students having passed through its doors. Today, many of these graduates are high achievers and leaders in various professions and industries, making significant contribution to the nation’s development.
