TAR UMT Experts Play Part in Fine-tuning WorldSkills Materials

Thanks to extensive experience and expertise in their respective fields, a team of TAR UMT academic staff from the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FOCS) participated in the WorldSkills Malaysia Belia (WSMB) competition question formulation meeting held on 19 – 21 February 2024 held at Ibis Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The Department of Skills Development (DSD) under the Ministry of Human Resources organised the meeting, which gathered experts, professionals and academicians from various higher education institutions in Malaysia to collaborate and develop competition materials for the WSMB and WorldSkills Malaysia Pengajar (WSMP) competitions.

Following brief introductions, the intensive discussions were split according to categories assigned based on each specialised topic. Ts Liaw Chun Voon, Senior Lecturer (Web Technology), Dr See Kwee Teck, Assistant Professor (Mobile Application Development), and Programme Leaders Assoc Prof Ts Dr Tew Yiqi (Internet of Things) and Peh Guan Soon (IT Software Solution for Business), played an active part in the discussions, sharing their insights and contributing suggestions to formulate challenging and competitive materials for their respective categories.

The meeting also gave all four participating TAR UMT academic staff valuable insights into how high-level competitions are developed, organised and executed, while fostering a collaborative relationship with their academic peers from other institutions.
