TAR UC Scores Huge Wins in E-Genting Competition 2016

Since 2010, TAR UC students have been winning prizes in the E-Genting Competition and the latest win in the said competition in 2016 marks the 7th time TAR UC students emerged as winners.  The recent win saw one student being awarded the distinction prize and as many as six other students won Merit Prizes. The students received their prizes at the E-Genting Prize Presentation Ceremony which was held on 14 January 2017.

The E-Genting Competition 2016 was divided into two areas; one being the E-Genting Programming Competition (‘EGPC’) 2016 and the other was the E-Genting Bug Hunt (‘EGBH’) 2016. Yu Hang Jie who is studying the Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) in Software Systems Development won the distinction prize which included a cash prize of RM500 and certificate of achievement while another three students took home the Merit Prizes and certificates of achievements. The Merit Prize winners were Tan Ngiap Jun, a Diploma in Science (Information Systems Engineering) student, Voon Chi Cheng and Yee Jian Lam, both studying the Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) in Software Systems Development. The Merit Prize winners won for themselves cash prize of RM200 each and certificates. Close to 160 participants comprising undergraduates and working adults competed in the EGPC 2016.

As for the EGBH 2016, the three students from TAR UC who competed against more than 60 other participants and won Merit Prizes were Ching Richard and Koh Ping Weng who are studying the Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) in Software Systems Development and Kok Yong Shun who is a Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) in Software Engineering student. The students each won for themselves cash prize of RM200 and a certificate.
