It’s not every day that you will meet a man of many talents who excels in achieving his goals. Jointly organised by the TARCian Alumni Association (‘TAA’) and the Malaysian Association of Business Management Scholars (‘MABMS’), TAR UC students had the privilege of attending a talk by Tan Sri Dato’ Paduka Professor Dr Fng Ah Seng as he shared his secret to success on 12 July 2017 at the UC Main Hall.

A civil engineer by profession, Tan Sri Dato’ Paduka Professor Dr Fng Ah Seng wears many hats – adjunct professor, business tycoon, ex-military officer, motivational speaker, philanthropist but most of all, an adventurer.

A man from humble beginnings, he is no stranger to hardships. At an early age he realised the importance of education as a means to escape poverty. “It is not easy, but I can do it” is his mantra. While sharing his successes to his audience, he stressed on the importance of setting goals and working hard towards achieving them.

During his talk entitled “The practice of Global Integrated Management and Leadership Application Principles (‘GIMLAP’) through work-applied learning to become an ultimate super achiever”, he spoke on how the GIMLAP ideology can help one manage one’s goals and achieve them in order to succeed in life. He also shared on the importance of having a proper management system to sustain goals as well as having the right attitude and mindset.

“Your mindset will change your behaviour and your belief will change your attitude and your attitude will determine if you will be successful or not,” advised Tan Sri Dato’ Paduka Professor Dr Fng Ah Seng. “There are no shortcuts, success comes step by step. Whatever you do, the first thing that you must have is the right mindset,” he shared.

Apart from sharing his secrets of success, Tan Sri Dato’ Paduka Professor Dr Fng Ah Seng also generously donated RM200,000 to TAR UC - TAA Scholarship to help deserving students pursue their higher education. The mock cheque was presented to Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UC and witnessed by Dato’ Chan Wah Kiang, Deputy President of TAA.
