A lively Dragon dance was performed to welcome Mr McEnery upon his arrival at TAR UC.

To start off the event, a multimedia presentation was shared with the audience to provide them with some insight into TAR UC’s historical background and developments over the past 48 years as well as its latest achievements.

“TAR UC has a long and close relationship with ACCA which dates back to 1971 when we first provided professional education to prepare our students for the ACCA professional qualification. This strong relationship between TAR UC and ACCA which spans over 46 years has built TAR UC into a premier centre of excellence for professional accountancy qualification, especially ACCA in Malaysia and internationally,” said Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok.

“With the support from ACCA, TAR UC is able to nurture, train and produce highly competent accountancy graduates who are very much sought after by employers of different industries both locally and internationally.”

In his special address entitled “ACCA Qualification – The Future”, Mr McEnery highlighted the importance of strategic forward thinking professional accountancy and how ACCA strives to future-proof the ACCA qualification.

“We need to ensure that our qualification remains the most relevant qualification. So the right thing to do is to reflect what employers need,” he said. “The role of being at the pinnacle of organisations of the future, you need to be able to scan the horizons, to assimilate what is happening and to be able to reflect that in the organisations in which you work.”

During the event, TAR UC was presented with a Certificate of Recognition by ACCA to commemorate 30 years of conducting the Internally Assessed ACCA Fundamentals Programme at TAR UC. In the presence of Mr McEnery, TAR UC also took the opportunity to present Letters of Commendation to ACCA top scorers in the recent 2016 and 2017 examinations. Letters of Appreciation were also presented to the lecturers in recognition of their contribution and hard work.
