The newly established TAR UC – TAA Scholarship had identified TAR UC two outstanding students and one graduate to be the pioneer recipients of the scholarship to pursue their studies. The students are Tai Zhe Bin, Chong Xin Thung and Puteri Nurul Afiqah binti Farouk Khan and they were awarded the inaugural TAR UC – TAA Scholarship on 3 August 2017.  Established by the TARCian Alumni Association (‘TAA’) this year, the students were awarded the scholarship amounting close to RM200,000, which covers their tuition fee and living allowance.

“This scholarship scheme is a first to be offered by TAR UC which aims to financially assist deserving TAR UC students and graduates and enable them to further their undergraduate or postgraduate studies either in TAR UC or recognised local or overseas universities,” said Dato’ Yap Kuak Fong, President of TAA.

Assoc Prof Dr Ng Swee Chin, Vice President of TAR UC, elaborated that the scholarship is awarded to students and graduates who demonstrate good academic performance and are actively involved in extra-curricular activities, in spite of their financial constraints in furthering their studies. “We are very grateful towards TAA for their generous gesture and support to our students,” she added.

With this scholarship, Tai Zhe Bin is given the opportunity to pursue his Master in Architecture at Tsinghua University, one of the world’s top universities based in China. Another two scholars, Chong Xin Thung and Puteri Nurul Afiqah binti Farouk Khan received scholarships to pursue their Bachelor of Communication (Hons) in Journalism and Bachelor of Public Relations (Hons) in TAR UC respectively.
