Another milestone in the history of TAR UC took place with much fanfare on 5 August 2017 with the launch of TAR UC Pahang Branch Campus. The purpose-built and modern campus which is located in Bandar Indera Mahkota, Kuantan, received a royal launch by Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Pemangku Raja Pahang, Tengku Mahkota Tengku Abdullah Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al Musta’in Billah. Other dignitaries who attended the launching ceremony at the Sports Dome in the campus were Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Sri Diraja Haji Adnan Bin Haji Yaakob, Pahang Chief Minister, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, TARC Education Foundation and Board of Governors, TAR UC, who is also the President of Malaysian Chinese Association and Minister of Transport, Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong, Member of the Board of Trustees, TARC Education Foundation and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Yang Berhormat Datuk Dr Mary Yap Kain Ching, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Yang Berbahagia Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UC.

In his opening speech, Dato’ Sri Liow highlighted that TAR UC’s quality education will play a significant role in supporting the growth and developments in Pahang. “With all the high-impact developments taking place in Pahang, this will certainly provide a much-needed impetus for growth but at the same time, it also calls for a sustainable human capital pipeline to transform the potentials into tangible results. This is where TAR UC’s professionally driven, industry-relevant and entrepreneurship-focused education plays a pivotal role in supporting the growth agenda of the state by developing highly skilled top calibre professionals who are capable of functioning extremely well in spearheading the economic and infrastructure developments in Pahang,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib congratulated TAR UC for establishing the purpose-built campus in Pahang and he emphasised that the Government has accorded the highest priority in higher education to ensure a sustainable human capital development. “I would like to congratulate TAR UC for providing quality education and affordable courses and this is important for us. This is the reason why I approved the proposal of setting up the Pahang Branch Campus back in 1999 when I was the then Minister of Education. I am indeed very happy to witness the establishment of this full-fledged campus. I am  confident that TAR UC will continue to progress with continued emphasis on quality education, teaching, research and innovation while providing excellent teaching and learning facilities for the community as well as focusing on developing the future skillsets for the nation to move forward such as robotics, nano technology and automation,” he elaborated.

This ceremony then continued with Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Pemangku Raja Pahang decreed the launch of TAR UC Pahang Branch Campus. Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Pemangku Raja Pahang was then accompanied by Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib, Dato’ Sri Diraja Haji Adnan and Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai on stage for the launching ceremony where Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Pemangku Raja Pahang pulled a string attached to a huge balloon to deflate it and reveal a wood carving of the Main Block of Pahang Branch Campus. The carving was later presented to Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Pemangku Raja Pahang by Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai.

Subsequently, the ceremony proceeded with Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Pemangku Raja Pahang making his way from the Sports Dome to the Main Block to sign a plaque to signify the launch of the building.  Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Pemangku Raja Pahang toured the Main Block accompanied by Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib, Dato’ Sri Diraja Haji Adnan, Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai and Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok from the gallery on the ground floor to the library at the first floor. Thereafter, Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Pemangku Raja Pahang together with the other dignitaries adjourned to the cafeteria for lunch where TAR UC students serenaded the guests with their musical performance.
