On 8 February 2017, Junior Chamber International  (JCI), KL presented a certificate of appreciation to TAR UC for their collaboration on high-impact community projects carried out from July till August 2016 that had eventually helped JCI-KL to win two highly coveted JCI E-Awards in 2016.  The certificate was handed over by Mr Eddie Ho, past President of JCI-KL, to Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UC. This meaningful ceremony was witnessed by Mr Jerry Ngeo, President of JCI-KL and several other representatives from JCI-KL, TAR UC’s Vice Presidents, Ms Kho Sok Kee, Assoc Prof Say Sok Kwan and Dr Chook Ka Joo as well as Ms Karthiyani Shanmugam, Head of Centre for Nation Building and Languages (‘CNBL’), Ms. Kong Lee Fong, Head of Division for Mata Pelajaran Pengajian Umum and Dr Chew Wei Wei, Senior Lecturer, all of whom are from CNBL.

JCI-KL's collaboration with TAR UC in green projects paved the way for JCI-KL to win the 2016 JCI World Congress Award, under the category of "The Best Inter-Organization Collaboration Project." In the Tree Planting project in North Selangor initiated by GEC (Global Environment Centre), the collaboration involved TAR UC, JCI-KL and GEC as well as other relevant stakeholders supporting this green endeavour, namely the Selangor State Government, Selangor Forestry Department and Friends of North Selangor Peat Swamp Forest. Then, in the landscaping project in Kampung Boyan, TAR UC-JCI collaborated with partners of the River of Life Local Agenda 21.

Besides that, JCI-KL's collaboration with TAR UC in the "Lifebrary of Love" project had also helped them earn the 2016 JCI Malaysia Annual National Convention E-Awards for the category "Best Local Global Goals Project”. This noble endeavour was carried out in collaboration with Sathya Sai Baba Centre. A creatively designed mini library was set up in a community centre at Matang Jaya, Sungai Buloh to promote healthy reading habits among the children. This project was made possible through a book donation drive at TAR UC and other financial and material support channelled by friends and associates of JCI-KL.
