ACHIEVEMENT

TAR UC's High Achiever in CFP Examination

"Of course, there was no way I could have achieved this if I was not equipped with the right foundation and tools to tackle the challenges of the examination" - Chai Man Yean.

Upon completion of her Diploma in Finance and Investment in TAR UC, Chai Man Yean began her pursuit of earning her Certified Financial Planner ('CFP') certification which is awarded by the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia ('FPAM'). Her effort was handsomely paid off when she scored the Best Paper Award for Module 1 of the CFP Certification December 2017 examination. Having cleared Module 1, Man Yean who is now pursuing her Bachelor of Finance and Investment (Hons) in TAR UC, will only need to complete Module 2 and 4 of the examination to qualify her for CFP certification as her diploma has granted her exemption from Module 3 of the examination.

Man Yean was certainly caught by surprise with this achievement. "Having to juggle my degree examinations, assignments and preparation for Module 1 was not a walk in the park. It was very stressful as I was constantly racing against time to be well-prepared for all these tasks. When hearing from my seniors that the scope of the CFP examination is not only limited to theories but also includes how students apply these theories to real case studies, I became more stressful as besides remembering facts, I also needed to practise my answering techniques to score in the examination. However, I still kept my eyes locked on my goal of doing well in the CFP examination and it is very encouraging to see that my hard work and study strategy yielded the results I was aiming for," Man Yean reminisced.

"Of course, there was no way I could have achieved this if I was not equipped with the right foundation and tools to tackle the challenges of the examination. What I have learnt in my diploma and degree helped me develop a stable foundation in areas such as analytical tools, risk management & insurance planning, investment planning, taxation planning and retirement & estate planning which are contained in the CFP syllabus. What's more, the library in TAR UC is sufficiently equipped with relevant study materials which enhanced my learning process as well as my revision in answering past year questions," she added.

Besides the Diploma in Finance and Investment, TAR UC graduates who completed the Diploma in Business Studies (Banking and Finance), Bachelor of Finance & Investment (Hons) or Bachelor of Banking & Finance (Hons) are also exempted from Module 3: Investment Planning and Retirement Planning of the CFP certification examination.
