Senior Officials of TAR UMT visited GIT on 30 August 2023 to further explore potential collaboration opportunities.

During the visitation, TAR UMT and GIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in Education. Both institutions were agreed to develop, promote and cooperate with one another in various activities such as: sharing of academic knowledge and best practices; staff and student engagements; and fostering partnerships and long term relationships with one another.

Prof. Ir. Dr. Lee Sze Wei was invited by GIT to deliver a keynote speech on “Inject entrepreneurship and innovation into specialized academic education and coordinate industrial and educational efforts for a shared future” in the 2022 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week held on 24 August 2022.

TAR UMT’s President, Prof. Ir. Dr. Lee Sze Wei was invited by GIT to deliver a keynote speech titled “When Industry Needs Meet Digital Innovation Through Entrepreneurship Journey” in the 2021 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week held on 24 September 2021.

TAR UMT was invited by GIT to participate in the China-ASEAN University Students’ Charity Design and Creativity Competition in 2020 under two different theme, namely:

  1. Environmental Design for Public Service Actions
  2. Public Service Announcement

 

2019

From 21 September to 4 October 2019

It was a historic moment for TAR UMT when 60 students studying various disciplines and two staff members embarked on a 14-day study tour to GIT, China, from 21 September to 4 October 2019.

The study tour was held in conjunction with China’s Belt-Road Initiatives for talent cultivation of young people between countries in ASEAN and China, as part of the China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance.

The group from TAR UMT managed to participate in many interesting activities in Guiyang, including a visit to Guizhou Big Data Exhibition Centre, dumpling-making classes, calligraphy, paper-cutting and tea art classes, and outdoor activities. They also sampled local delicacies, and got to know the ethnic Miao culture through performances at a Miao village.

 

From 25 July to 8 August 2019

A group of students from GIT joined a study tour to TAR UMT from 25 July to 8 August 2019.

On 1 August 2019, a Cloth Draping Workshop has been organized by TAR UMT to cater for GIT students.

 

22 July 2019

TAR UMT was invited by GIT to participate in the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) on 22 July 2019. The theme of the event was “To deepen practical cooperation and share development benefits”, heralding a new beginning for education cooperation and a new future for cultural exchange.

 

17 May 2019

The Memorandum of Understanding between TAR UMT and GIT was signed on 17 May 2019. This Memorandum of Understanding is to enable TAR UMT and GIT to share common and fundamental objectives of promoting and developing higher education opportunities in both countries.

 

2018

From 25 July 2018 to 28 July 2018

TAR UMT was invited to take part in the China – ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (‘CAECW’) that was held from 25 July to 28 July 2018 in Guiyang, Guizhou, China.

Assoc Prof Dr Ng shared with all the delegates TAR UMT’s journey of transforming itself with the aim of becoming an entrepreneurial university in a talk entitled “Innovative and Entrepreneurial Talent Development: Experience of a Malaysian University”, at the 2nd Annual Session of China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance of Universities- Global Innovative and Entrepreneurial Talent Training Principle Forum, hosted by GIT.
