From 2 September to 18 September 2025 Waseda collaborated with TAR UMT Sabah Branch, Cyberjaya University and Sabah Institute of Arts (SIA) for the 34th Borneo Project from 2 to 18 September 2025. The project, initiated by Waseda in the early 2000s, focused on studying undocumented families and their children who lacked formal identification. Through village visits on the outskirts of the city, participants gained insight into the challenges these families faced and the education available to their children, while bringing care and support to the communities. A total of 20 TAR UMT students and staff took part, engaging in fieldwork and community activities, and contributing to cross-cultural learning and collaboration among the participating universities.
