TAR UMT and SASS signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on 4 December 2024. This partnership aims to foster international academic collaboration, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding through various educational and academic initiatives.

1 March 2024

The Memorandum of Agreement on Research Cooperation between TAR UMT and SASS was signed on 1 March 2024 to foster collaborative research initiatives, facilitate the exchange of research expertise and resources, and strengthen the academic partnership between the two institutions.

The Memorandum of Understanding between TAR UMT and SASS was signed on 3 December 2019 at TAR UMT. SASS and TAR UMT will continue to work on scholarly work especially in research and researcher exchanges, joint conferences and collaborative research projects to promote international social, economic and financial growth.

The Inaugural Round-table Discussion on Belt & Road Initiative (‘BRI’), co-organised by Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (‘TAR UMT’) and Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (‘SASS’), was held on 27 August 2019 at TAR UMT Kuala Lumpur Main Campus.

Engaging speakers from diverse backgrounds, the discussion touched on topics relating to the BRI, namely the Bilateral Trade and FDI Relationship between Malaysia and China; the Intra-ASEAN Community and its Development, as well as Environmental Protection Issues in the Development of Urbanisation in Malaysia.

Jointly organised by TAR UMT and Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (‘SASS’), the International Conference on “The New Phase of Malaysia-China Relations: Belt and Road Initiative and Resource Sharing for Mutual Benefit” was held on 25 April 2019.

A total of 16 speakers from TAR UMT, SASS and various academic institutions in Malaysia who presented their research and findings on topics relating to the Belt and Road Initiative (‘BRI’) namely – The Development of Malaysia-China Bilateral Trade; The Population And Social Changes In Malaysia And China; The Prospects Of Malaysia-China Business And Investment and the Development Of BRI And Malaysia-China Relations.
