24 October 2018 Following from the signing ceremony between TAR UMT and PEUNI for a joint R&D project on Intelligent Agriculture in August 2018, TAR UMT visited PEUNI to catch up on the progress of the project. The delegation from TAR UMT included Dato’ Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of TARC Education Foundation and Board of Governors of TAR UMT and Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UMT.
14 August 2018 TAR UMT and PEUNI had formalised a joint R&D project on Intelligent Agriculture in a signing ceremony concurrently held with the Inauguration Ceremony of Joint Laboratory on 14 August 2018. Through this collaboration, TAR UMT and Peking University will be working together closely and sharing their respective expertise to develop sustainable cultivation methods using Farm Box, to improve the production of stevia and ice plant. TAR UMT and Peking University have been working together on Agriculture 4.0 projects since 2017.

30 October 2017 Following the MoU on Agriculture 4.0 - Bentong Ginger R&D, a forum on Agriculture 4.0 was held on 30 October 2017 at the Auditorium. PEUNI was invited by TAR UMT to join the Academic Forum on Agriculture 4.0 on 30 October 2017. The forum was involved discussion on the maturity of Agriculture 4.0, Challenges and Opportunities. The forum was specifically organised for researchers, industrial players, stakeholders and farmers.
28 October 2017 A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (‘MoU’) was signed by TAR UMT, PEUNI and Persatuan Budaya Seni dan Warisan Bentong on 28 October 2017 which paves the way for research on “Agriculture 4.0 – Bentong Ginger R&D”. Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, TARC Education Foundation and Board of Governors, TAR UMT, and Minister of Transport, Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UMT, Prof Dato’ Dr Mohammad Najib bin Ahmad Dawa, President of ARCH Bentong and Prof Zhang Guoyi, Executive Vice Director, Dongguan Institute of Opto-Electronics, Peking University, were present for the MoU signing ceremony. At the same ceremony, the ground breaking ceremony for the Bentong Ginger House was also take place.
13 October to 15 October 2017 TAR UMT visited PEUNI in between 13 October and 15 October 2017 to discuss on the collaboration with PEUNI on Agriculture 4.0 - Ginger Research. The collaboration would be focusing on Agriculture 4.0, which is an analogy to Industry 4.0. Agriculture 4.0 revolves around the use of digital and automation technology to improve precision and efficacy in farming. The collaboration would be primarily focusing on the cultivation of Bentong ginger. |
