2025 |
From 7 June to 17 June 2025 From 7 to 17 June 2025, TAR UMT organised the Project-Based Learning (PBL) Study Trip 2025, an 11-day, 10-night academic visit to the SIT. A total of 23 participants, comprising 21 undergraduate and postgraduate students and two lecturers, joined the trip. The study trip aimed to expose students to an international built environment and enhance their knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM), focusing on scan-to-BIM technology. Students also engaged in joint BIM-related activities with SIT’s School of Architecture, gaining hands-on experience, cross-cultural exposure, and insights into international practices.

2024 |
From 15 September to 22 September 2024 TAR UMT co-organized the Building Information Modelling (BIM) Global Project-Based Learning event in collaboration with the University of Transport and Communications (UTC) in Vietnam and SIT in Japan. The program, titled 'Building Information Modelling for Urban Rail Stations under the Concept of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD),' took place in Hanoi, Vietnam, from 15 September to 22 September 2024. A total of 45 students from Japan, Vietnam, and Malaysia collaborated on a BIM project, proposing future developments for a rail station in Hanoi over the next 20 years.
From 9 June 2024 to 18 June 2024 A total of 20 students from the FOBE of TAR UMT attended a ten-day Project-Based Learning Study Trip to SIT Japan from 9 June to 18 June 2024. During the trip, the primary activity involved collaborating with SIT students on a 'Scan to BIM' project. The outcome of this project was the creation of a 3D BIM model using Revit software. Students processed point cloud data collected from laser scanning and transformed it into a 3D BIM model within Revit. |

16 November 2023 The Memorandum of Understanding between TAR UMT and SIT was signed on 16 November 2023. TAR UMT and SIT were agreed to develop, promote and cooperate with one another in various activities such as: sharing of academic knowledge and best practices; staff and student engagements; and fostering partnerships and long term relationships with one another.
From 13 June to 22 June 2023 TAR UMT organised a 10-Days 9-Nights study trip to Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT), Japan. Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT) is a science and engineering-based college in Japan, with campuses in the capital Tokyo and the nearby city of Saitama. The Higher School of Industry and Commerce dates back to 1927 and the modern university opened in 1949. There are now seventeen departments at the university from Mechanical Engineering to Architecture, as well as a school of Arts and Sciences, a College of Systems Engineering and Science, and a graduate department. This study trip focused on the interaction with the academicians and students from School of Architecture in SIT. |
