To be visionary in business, the leaders of companies must understand and consider the implications of all risks that may jeopardise the growth and sustainability of their organisations.
Corporate risk management is the sole responsibility of Top management. Recently, the Statement of Risk Management and Internal Control – Guidelines for Directors of Listed Issuers, supported by Bursa was designed to help top management meet their reporting responsibilities and prepare disclosures on risk management and internal control in the annual reports and to ensure that they comply with the listing requirements.
The secret is to know the risks to which the company may be exposed and whether they are big enough to worry about if there is anything the leader can do to protect against them and to know the costs to reduce or hedge these risks. It allows the leader to take action immediately.
