Programme Overview:

The Master of Arts in English Studies programme offers an extensive syllabus that enables students to acquire customised knowledge, develop critical acumen in synthesising information, analyse and interpret texts and data that are intercultural, creative, literary or linguistic in nature. This Masters by coursework programme presents an opportunity for graduates to cultivate their English language skills and emerge as holistic professionals in their chosen field.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree (Level 6 MQF) in the related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or its equivalent qualification as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR
  • A Bachelor's degree (Level 6 MQF) in related field or its equivalent but has not achieved a CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field.

Candidates without a related qualification in the field/s must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses.

English Language Requirements

Malaysian Students

  • MUET Band 4.0 OR IELTS Band 6.0 OR CEFR Mid B2 OR TOEFL iBT 60 equivalent; OR
  • Exemption of English Language requirement if medium of instruction during Bachelor studies was in English

International Students

  • IELTS Band 6.0 or CEFR Mid B2, TOEFL iBT 60 or equivalent; OR
  • Exemption of English Language requirement if medium of instruction during Bachelor studies was in English
