The decision to enrol myself in TAR UMT’s Sport and Exercise programme a week before orientation was definitely one of the best decision that I have made in my life. Throughout the 4 years that I’ve spent at TAR UMT, I have had countless memories and formed many friendships that I would always cherish. Although the past 2 years were spent online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the quality of education received was definitely high. Lecturers have put in an immense amount of effort into making things work for us students and they were also very empathetic to the problems that we faced during online classes which I really appreciated because it was not easy for any of us. Not going to lie, but not being able to experience the physical university life was definitely a downside of my time here but it was inevitable. Still, I’m glad to have been able to learn and work with so many incredible individuals, such as lecturers, peers or other TAR UMT staff, and I’m proud to be able to call myself a TAR UMT graduate.

The TAR UMT KL Campus provides a conducive study environment and a huge campus consisting of many facilities which include the swimming pool and basketball courts. The programmes conducted here are well planned and well thought out and prepare students with the necessary knowledge and skills required to enter the working industry. The lecturers were very dedicated, experienced in teaching and helpful in providing guidance and direction. Just as importantly, the tuition fees are very affordable and reasonable even though the quality of education provided is high. Due to this reason, hundreds of thousands of students have benefited over the past 53 years.

Pursuing my tertiary level studies at TAR UMT has been one of the most rewarding decisions that I have ever made. The comprehensive and conducive learning environment provided at TAR UMT has greatly influenced the outcome of my studies. Enrolling in the Bioscience with Chemistry programme has enabled me to explore in detail the fields of study. All the knowledge and practical skills that I have gained from the programme have given me an opportunity to excel. Apart from equipping myself with proficient knowledge and skills, the programme has also shaped me into a better person as it trained me to be more independent, to have stronger time-management skills, to improve on my leadership qualities and to learn how to cooperate with others as a team. The lecturers and tutors are always passionate in sharing their knowledge and experience in their teaching and this has further stimulated the passion I had for my studies. I deeply value and appreciate all the caring lecturers, tutors and friends that I have encountered throughout my educational journey at TAR UMT. I sincerely believe that pursuing my studies at TAR UMT has built a strong foundation in my life which leads to success and I would always be thankful for having chosen TAR UMT.

I am very blessed to be able to pursue the programme of my choice and to be awarded a merit scholarship to pursue the programme is an added bonus. My learning experience has been interesting and rewarding as I have gained relevant knowledge and practical skills in the various areas under food science. Besides the comprehensive learning environment on campus, having helpful and enthusiastic friends and knowledgeable and supportive lecturers were among the important factors for me to successfully complete my studies at TAR UMT. I am confident that the knowledge and exposure I have gained as a TAR UMT student will be the foundation of success in my career and life.

As a graduate, I can testify that choosing to study at TAR UMT was the best decision I had ever made. The pleasant study environment with excellent amenities were very helpful in my learning journey to acquire valuable knowledge and develop practical skills. As I aim to bring positive impact to people through sports, TAR UMT has helped me get closer to my ambition as studying sport science at TAR UMT has taught me the approach and methods that I can apply. Meeting others with similar interest like mine is an added bonus. Most importantly, I have lecturers who are genuinely concerned for my future and they willingly share their knowledge and experiences for my benefit. The culture at TAR UMT emphasises experience and exposure beyond education which includes active participation in sports/co-curricular activities and society/events has helped me move forward in my journey to become a better version of myself as an athlete, a coach and a friend. Such support and motivation have helped me pursue my sports career in between my studies by participating in Asian Games in 2018 and Sea Games in 2019.

"I spent almost five years of my life in TAR UMT and I guess I could say that TAR UMT was once my home. People often say home is where the heart is and I guess that's true because no matter where I go, I feel like some part of me is still there. I basically spent my youth there, every blood, sweat and tears, be it bitter or sweet. Lecturers there were like mentors who would dedicate themselves to students, with the hope that one day, these students sitting in front of them could metamorphose into butterflies which can fly with their own wings. I guess there lies the nobility of an educator, isn't it? I still remember the moment when the university believed in me when I had nothing, how the lecturers would sacrifice their time and effort to teach me and all of that made me who I am today. I believe there are thousands of people out there, just like the younger version of me, carrying dreams with their shoulders alone in this world and I am here to tell them, there is always a place for your dream."
