Aim
- To broaden students’ horizon and global cultural awareness in sports science through interaction with students in Malaysia, Singapore and China
- To promote cross cultural relationship among students of Tianjin University of Sport (China), Republic Polytechnic (Singapore) and TAR UC (Malaysia)
Summary
The 3-days program consisted of 12 students representing each institution of higher learning on the theme of “Major Games Preparation”. The 3-days program consisted of a Facilities and Campus Tour of each institution along student-led activities and cultural sharing. In each day, there was a staff sharing session by each institution that was centered around the theme of Major Games Preparation. TAR UC students were also involved in leading the whole of the 2nd day of the events as each day was led by each respective institution. Each day was concluded with a 3-hour problem-based case study where students were divided into breakout rooms and were to work together to identify issues and provide a solution for a specific case study theme. A presentation by each group was done on the last day to demonstrate their understanding and solutions.
For TAR UC, AP Dr Kok Lian Yee shared her experience and knowledge on “Examining the Coach Development Pathway for Malaysian Coaches”. AP Dr Kok pointed out education process of a Malaysian coach and the importance of matching coaching levels with athletes’ levels of development.
