TAR UC's Victorious Showing in Accounting Professional Avenue 2018

3 teams from KL Main Campus and 5 teams from Penang Branch Campus participated in the Accounting Professional Avenue (‘APA’) Quiz Challenge 2018 organised by Universiti Sains Malaysia (‘USM’) on 13 - 14 April 2018. The objective of the competition was to expose students to accounting knowledge and concepts. The competition saw the participation of almost 40 teams from various institutions of higher learning vying for the prizes. Out of 8 TAR UC teams who participated, four teams won prizes and they are as listed below:

Undergraduate Category:

Champion – Team ‘We Are The Ones’ from Penang Branch Campus

4th Placing – Team ‘1997’ from Penang Branch Campus

When interviewed, one of the Champion team members, Chin Kai Mun, said that success comes from hard work. “Over the years, the lectures and tutorials have strengthened our knowledge in accounting and finance and this has helped my teammates and I to perform well in the competition,” she said.

Chong Khai Lin on the other hand said that the attractive prizes, determination and motivation among the teammates drove them to win in the APA 2018 competition.

Finally, Chong Kez Sing, another member of the team, shared how she was able to tackle the questions despite being out of the syllabus. “As I was doing my ACCA professional papers in addition to my Bachelor’s degree at TAR UC, this helped me a lot when I attempted the questions posed during the challenge,” she said.

The Champion team bagged the Champions' trophy, cash prize of USD500 as well as certificates. In addition, each member of the winning team was offered a confirmed internship opportunity at Ernst & Young (Penang) from February to April 2019, in any department of their choice.
