TAR UC Graduate Emerges as ACCA Topper in Malaysia

Just before 2021 drew to a close, TAR UC student Hew Ting Yi bested others in the ACCA examinations and earned a First Placing in Malaysia for attaining the highest combined mark after the ACCA December 2021 examinations.

This was Ting Yi’s best and most memorable achievement as he was about to complete his Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) at the end of 2021 when he received the award.

“I was over the moon when I was informed of the results! I am also very glad to be able to finish all my ACCA papers during the course of my studies at TAR UC, and this achievement is just the final icing on the cake,” said a delighted Ting Yi.

His achievement of clinching the First Placing in Malaysia for attaining highest combined mark is the result of the combined mark from all four ACCA Strategic Professional Papers Ting Yi completed over the course of one and a half years. Ting Yi consistently delivered spectacular performance in the ACCA Strategic Professional Papers, leading him to the award.

Of the four papers, Ting Yi excelled in two, namely the Strategic Business Reporting and Strategic Business Leader papers. Ting Yi completed the Strategic Business Reporting during the September 2020 ACCA examination, where he came up Top in Malaysia and 3rd in the World for his excellent result. Ting Yi followed up with another outstanding performance to finish 2nd in Malaysia and 9th in the World for his Strategic Business Leader paper in the June 2021 ACCA examinations.

Ting Yi finally achieved the highest combined mark after completing his Advanced Financial Management and Advanced Audit & Assurance papers in the September 2021 and December 2021 ACCA examinations respectively.

“It was a long journey but I always believe we get what we give. Hence, I constantly give my 100% for every paper because even though it is a tough and stressful journey, the effort is always worth it when I finally see the results of my hard work.

“This result is also in part thanks to the academic staff at TAR UC who are always helpful and willing to guide me, even sacrificing their personal time to give us extra classes and motivation so that we can do well. Their trust in my potential gave me the confidence boost I needed to strive for success,” added Ting Yi.

Currently starting his career at Ernst & Young, Ting Yi believes he has still a lot to learn and improve, saying: “Life is an endless learning process, so I will continue to absorb, learn and improve myself in my career life and look forward to achieving great things like how I did at TAR UC.”
