Award-winning Paper Borne from India Partnership

A working relationship between TAR UMT and the Hindustan College of Arts and Science (HCAS) resulted in a research paper that won the Bronze Award (PhD category) at the MELTA International Research Conference in English Language Education (MIRCELE) 2022 held virtually on 17 December 2022.

The collaboration between TAR UMT’s Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (FSSH) and HCAS resulted in the paper titled ‘Comparative Studies of Dialogue Writing Between Malaysia and India Higher Learning Institution’, a work by Mr Thilip Kumar a/l Moorthy, a lecturer under FSSH, and Mrs Jabeela Shirlin, an Assistant Professor from HCAS.

When interviewed, Thilip expressed his delight for the success, adding: “We felt proud as having our names in the list of winners is not an easy thing as there were plenty of other researchers who submitted equally good papers. Regardless, this result is a happy conclusion for us.

“This achievement is thanks to the support from my colleagues at TAR UMT, especially Dr Karthiyani Shanmugam, Dean of FSSH, and Dr Sakthi Prabha, Dean of the School of Humanities, HCAS. Their support in encouraging our team and motivating us to complete the research was instrumental to our success.”

Thilip also sang praises to collaborations between the institutions from two different countries, saying: “Collaborations will allow both institutions to broaden their knowledge in terms of culture, understanding and on top of that, experience how different institutions teach their programmes. This will allow TAR UMT to have more ideas on how to impart its Beyond Education philosophy and engage our students with these experiences so that they can prepare to be industry-driven talents in this competitive world.”
