In conjunction with the double celebration of TAR UC's 50th Anniversary and Kaspersky Lab's 20th Anniversary, both of them joined hands in an effort to set a new record in the Malaysia Book of Records for the "Most Number of Anti-Virus for Mobile Devices Activated in an Event" at TAR UC on 5 June 2018.

The campaign carried out at Yum Yum Cafeteria saw a record total of 1,931 hand phones downloaded with free two Kaspersky anti-virus softwares namely Kaspersky Internet Security for Android & Kaspersky Password Manager for iOS.

At the certificate presentation ceremony by the Malaysia Book of Records, Ms Lim Mei Shyan, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology ('FOCS') in her speech highlighted the importance of information security in today's digital world. "It is time for us to take action to protect our devices from various kinds of cyber threats. There are many recommended ways to do so and one of the ways is to install a mobile Internet Security app in our mobile device to provide real-time protection to mitigate the threats of malware, ransomware, malicious apps and other possible threats," she said. Mr Jesmond Chang, Kaspersky Lab's Asia Pacific Head of Corporate Communication, also echoed the same matter in his speech. He said: "Mobile devices specifically smart phones are now the primary internet access device for most of the world's internet users. Cybercriminals know this and have shifted their focus to targeting smart devices such as phones and tablets because these devices have become the hub for sensitive personal data. This attempt for a Malaysian record is aimed at driving home the awareness of just how vulnerable these devices are, and why users need to actively protect these devices."

Two representatives of the Malaysia Book of Records, Puan Siti Hajar Binti Johor and Cik Nurasyikin Binti Ramli both presented the certificate signifying the record title to Mr Jesmond Chang of Kaspersky Lab.

Apart from setting a new record, the highlight of the day was the lucky draw with 30 prizes. Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UC, was invited to draw the lucky numbers and present the gifts to the winners.
