On 14th March 2017, a sharing session on “Responsive Web Design” was held at lecture hall DK 6 of TAR UC’s Kuala Lumpur Main Campus. The session was organised by the Creative Arts Society from the Faculty of Social Science, Arts & Humanities (FSAH).
Guest speaker, Mr. Chunsen Oo a.k.a. Akio Walt, shared his work experience designing websites with TAR UC Diploma in Graphic Design and Multimedia Design students as well as Bachelor of Creative Multimedia (Honours) in Multimedia Design students. The session was also attended by Pn. Nurulhuda Zainudin, Ms. Jacqualine Sim and Mr. Foo Yi Chyuan, academics from the Department of Creative Arts.
As a designer, Mr. Akio works with a wide range of clients from various fields such as branding, product development, websites and fashion accessories. During the two-hour talk, Mr. Akio shared his experience in graphic design and how it led him to pursue multimedia design. He emphasised that it is important to understand design processes in order to come up with various solutions for use on multiple platforms and different screen sizes.
One valuable key design tip he shared was to keep the content on an interface simple, straightforward and clean. “It is a designer’s task to think critically and propose a solution based on the client’s needs. Designers need to put themselves in the shoes of the client,” said Mr. Akio.
