It may be just another customary convocation event, but the February 2019 Convocation Ceremony from 22 – 24 February 2019 turned out to be extra special for TAR UC as the institution celebrated their first cohort of Master’s Degree graduates at the graduation ceremony in its Kuala Lumpur Main Campus.

Chan Yoong Wai, Chow Wai Hing and Ong Wei Sheng, who completed their Master of Business Administration, were treated to a thunderous applause as they received their respective scrolls from Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai, Chairman of the Board of Governors (‘BOG’) of TAR UC, who was present to grace the occasion.

This particular convocation was also an extra special one as it coincided with 24 February 2019, which marked TAR UC’s exact 50th birthday since its inception on the same day in 1969. The three-day convocation ceremony witnessed three Master’s graduates, 3,043 Bachelor’s Degree graduates and 424 Diploma graduates receiving their scrolls.

In his speech, Dato’ Sri Liow wished the graduates success and hoped they would continue to cultivate the bond with their alma mater.

“As TAR UC celebrates its 50th Anniversary, we hope that you will continue to scale greater heights and find success in all your endeavours. Remember too that your relationship with TAR UC does not end here but it has shifted from University-Student relationship to Alma Mater-Alumni. Cherish this special bond that you have with your alma mater,” said Dato’ Sri Liow.

Yoong Wai, who graduated with a Distinction, credited TAR UC as the perfect place to further one’s education. “TAR UC provides a good learning platform where I was able to embrace failures, make mistakes and learn from them. I will certainly take these lessons to heart as I embark on my personal mission to further my studies to the post-doctorate level,” he added.

Teo Loi Pin, a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) graduate who is also ACCA Perpetual Cup and FAFB Professional Examination Excellence Award – ACCA winner said that passion for learning was what helped him reach greater heights at TAR UC.

“I would also like to thank TAR UC for helping me reach this far, and I personally hope they will attain the full-fledged university status soon,” he said.
