In its bid to provide an immersive learning experience in the area of finance and investment, Faculty of Accountancy, Finance and Business (‘FAFB’) set up an Investment Share Trading Training Room which was officially launched on 9 August 2017 by Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UC.

In collaboration with Cornet Research Sdn Bhd and KAF-Seagroatt & Campbell Securities Sdn Bhd, the investment share trading training room enables FAFB students to have hands-on training on share market trading, equipping them with the industry-relevant skills in the world of finance and investment.

“I am confident that this collaboration will contribute immensely towards the development and enhancement of the curriculum in order to meet the needs of the challenging business world,” said Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok during his speech.

“TAR UC embraces wholesome education philosophy in all its programmes of study. TAR UC’s approach to tertiary education always places the needs of the students in the heart of our efforts to ensure that we produce holistic work-ready professionals instilled with relevant technical skills, emotional and moral excellence to meet the demand of the industry who can contribute effectively towards society and nation building.”

The launch also was attended by Mr Yew Thean Hoo, Chief Technology Officer of Cornet Research Sdn Bhd, Ms Ng Yee Kim, Director of Cornet Research Sdn Bhd, En Abdul Saheed, Head of Group Technology, KAF-Seagroatt & Campbell Securities Sdn Bhd and TAR UC senior officials.

“We truly believe that there is nothing greater than having hands-on exposure, more so when dynamic technological growth has resulted in the importance of online share trading,” said Ms Ng Yee Kim. “We sincerely hope this programme has benefitted students in sharpening their share trading skills and the risk involved”.

Located on the 2nd floor of SA Block, Room SA 206, the investment share trading training room has 32 terminals equipped with real-time share market simulator software which allows for Bachelor of Finance and Investment (Hons.) and Bachelor of Banking and Finance (Hons.) students to hone their skills in real-time online share trading.
