Larger Financial Aid for TAR UC Students

Established on 9 October 2017 with an initial amount of RM600,000, Bodhi Meditation Malaysian Berhad increases its contribution to RM 1 million  in 2018 towards TAR UC – JINBODHI Bursary and  a Deed of Donation Signing Ceremony was held on 5 October 2018 to witness this momentous occasion.  .

Present at the ceremony was Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UC, Assoc Prof Dr Chook Ka Joo, Assoc Prof Dr Ng Swee Chin, Assoc Prof Say Sok Kwan, Vice Presidents of TAR UC, Teacher Ling Shan, Chairman of Bodhi Meditation Malaysia Berhad, Brother Xu Te, Vice Chairman of Bodhi Meditation Malaysia Berhad, Sister Fu Han, Committee cum Treasurer of Bodhi Meditation Malaysia Berhad, Brother Wen Jun and Sister Dong Cao, Committee Members from Bodhi Meditation Malaysia Berhad, Senior Officials of TAR UC as well as staff from Bodhi Meditation Malaysia Berhad and TAR UC.

Signed for the second year, the TAR UC – JINBODHI Bursary provides bursaries to underprivileged Diploma and Bachelor Degree students to further their studies in TAR UC. In 2017, a total of 31 students had benefitted from the bursary.

“The mission of TAR UC is to provide quality and affordable education to deserving and needy students. In order to do that, we have made our tuition fees as low as possible and also offer various types of financial aid to help our students lessen their financial burden, “ commented Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei in his welcoming speech. “We are very grateful and honoured to be in partnership with Bodhi Meditation Malaysia in providing financial aid for needy and deserving students to continue their studies and I am glad to see that this bursary has carried into the second year.“

“In 2017, we set up the TAR UC – JINBODHI Bursary and donated RM600,000 which had benefitted 31 students,” highlighted Teacher Ling Shan in his address. “This year, we decided to donate a total of RM1,000,000 towards the bursary to help more needy and deserving students. We invite new students in need of financial aid for their studies to apply for this year’s bursary.”

During the ceremony, existing recipients of the TAR UC – JINBODHI Bursary shared how the bursary had made a difference in their lives.

“I feel so grateful to be a recipient of this bursary as it has helped me and my family a lot and allowed me to continue my studies,” said Hemavanan A/L Krishna Kumar. The Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management student shared that the bursary had enabled him to continue his studies after completing his self-funded Foundation programme whereby he had to take on part-time jobs to finance his studies.

“By receiving this bursary, I am able to focus on my studies and also participate in extra-curricular activities which not only keep me fit and healthy but also help me improve my communication skills.”

Yee Xiao Peng, a year 2 Diploma in Social Science (Counselling) student also shared how her financial burden was lightened after receiving the bursary.

“I am able to concentrate on my studies without having to worry about my family’s financial situation.”
