It was a cause for joy in TAR UC communities as Bodhi Meditation Malaysia Berhad generously donated RM600,000 to TAR UC and this led to the Deed of Donation Signing Ceremony which took place on 9 October 2017 to formalise the setting up of TAR UC - Jinbodhi Bursary. The Deed of Donation Signing Ceremony was graced by YB Senator Dato’ Dr Hou Kok Chung, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors of TAR UC who was present as the Guest of Honour. Also present at the ceremony  were Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UC, Brother Xu Te, Sister Fa Gong, Sister Fu Han and Sister Dong Cao who are all Committee Members of Bodhi Meditation Malaysia Berhad as well as Dato’ Sri Alan Kuang, Marketing Director of Energy Bagua Sdn Bhd.

In his speech, YB Senator Dato’ Dr Hou shared his thoughts on the setting up of the bursary. “I like to believe that the choice to collaborate with TAR UC is grounded by Bodhi Meditation Malaysia Berhad’s confidence in TAR UC’s role and commitment towards providing affordable quality education to all Malaysians. Besides remaining focused in its pursuit of academic excellence, TAR UC also unceasingly prioritises the needs of deserving students from underprivileged family backgrounds. Various financial resources are made available, from interest-free educational loans to scholarships, both full and partial,” he said.

Datuk Dr Tan in his welcome speech expressed his gratitude to Bodhi Meditation Malaysia Berhad for the generosity which would help needy students to pursue their education at TAR UC. He added: “TAR UC - Jinbodhi Bursary offers up to RM10,000 per annum per recipient for about 20 deserving Diploma and Degree students for each academic year. This bursary is very timely since we have students who are not able to pay even their first semester fee to register as our students before they can apply for TAR UC Student Loan or PTPTN Loan.”

Brother Xu Te in his speech highlighted the philanthropic initiatives conducted by Bodhi Medication Malaysia Berhad with greater emphasis on education. “Through a charity dinner organised early this year which successfully raised RM1,198,000, 70% of the funds raised was allocated for education which aimed to provide financial assistance to students, orphans and those in need. The focus of these funds is to help students from lower income families to further their studies as well as to assist schools in their operational expenses,” Brother Xu Te explained.

Sister Fu Han lauded the partnership with TAR UC to champion the cause of providing education to all regardless of their social standing. She continued: “It is indeed a great honour to partner with TAR UC to establish the TAR UC - Jinbodhi Bursary as TAR UC has been widely recognised as an institution of higher learning entrenched with the principle of providing quality and affordable education to all.”
