TAR UC’s A Level students have outdone themselves at the recent June 2018 Cambridge GCE A level and AS level examinations with 100 students from the Centre for Pre-University Studies (‘CPUS’) emerging as high achievers to stand head and shoulders above the many thousands globally who sit for the prestigious annual examination.

At the CPUS A Level Awards certificate presentation ceremony on 18 September 2018, Assoc Prof Dr Ng Swee Chin, Vice President of TAR UC, was present to award certificates to the 19 A level high achievers and 81 high AS level high achievers.

The June 2018 examinations saw an impressive pass percentage of 93.0% for A level with 44.2% cohorts scoring at least 3’A’s and above. At the AS level, students scored an equally remarkable pass percentage of 95.2%, with 43.8% of the cohort scoring 3’a’s and above.

In addition, seven students scored 100% in the Mathematics subject at the AS level, guaranteeing them a Top in the World Award at the next Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards.

“Over the years our students have regularly clinched accolades for Top in Malaysia and Top in the World in various subjects at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards. Their academic excellence and diligence are worthy of emulation by the rest of the TAR UC student body,” said Assoc Prof Dr Ng.

At the presentation of the Best Overall Performance Award, Lim Yuan Bing received the prize for A Level (Science) for scoring 4’A*’s. He was also the recipient of the CPUS Top Achievement Cup. “A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite imagination and instill the love of learning. That sentence captures the essence of TAR UC lecturers who have always been there to shine the light on our path to academic excellence. Thank you for helping us students to become more than what we could ever be,” he said in his valedictorian speech.

Having scored 2’A*’s 1’A’, Assad Ahmed bin Ghulam Nabi Athar was conferred the said prize for A Level (Arts).

The AS Level best overall performers  were Ong Zi Yuan (Science) and Wong Li Wen (Arts), who scored 4’a’s 1’b’ and 4’a’s respectively.
